Free Consultation

After your first contact with Wonders On Walls an appointment will be scheduled for a  free consultation.  During this consultation you will have an opportunity to review generic samples, discuss possibilities and narrow down your choices to a select few. (Regarding  mural requests: It is advantageous if you have some  photographs or pictures handy to support a preconceived vision.  This will save valuable time, although the artist will usually add her own research to the supply. Where children's murals are concerned, I am happy to allow for the child's input.) As the consultation moves forward, I will take time to measure the work site.  I generally take photos of the surrounding area.  It is most helpful if I can take a fabric item or a swatch of material back to my studio with me, where I will begin your personal sample process.

Your Customized Sample; Contracting the Job

Based on all the information gathered,  Wonders On Walls will create one or more customized samples, for your approval.  A $75.00 non-refundable sample fee will be collected for this.  Samples will remain the property of Wonders On Walls.

A final estimate will be presented with the completed personalized sample.  Upon approval of the sample, a contract agreement will be signed between the contractor and the owner.  Fifty percent of the total cost will be collected at the time of the acceptance of the contract; the remainder remains payable upon the completion of the job.  If the job is a long term project, payment may be divided as follows: 50% of the total cost as an initial payment, with smaller increments at set intervals during the project, with a final payment due upon the completion of the job)

On the Job Site

Before the job begins, the homeowner is responsible to have the room cleared of all small objects- especially expensive, breakable items.  The homeowner must remove all artwork from the walls and all window treatments.  Furniture should be moved from the room or pulled out of the way, allowing work space.  Wonders On Walls will take every precaution to protect the clients property.  This will include the use of safe, low-tack masking materials and the use of plastic and drop cloths.  Once painting has commenced, special care will be taken to avoid tracking paint into any area of the client’s home, either by removing shoes or slipping on covers over ones shoes.

Most faux finishes will take between 2 to 7 days to complete, depending on the complexity of the finish and the size of the room. Many times the application of multi levels require overnight dry time, before the next layer is attempted.

Murals will vary in completion times: some can be finished within a few days; others may require weeks or months.

Murals can be painted directly on your walls or they can be painted in studio  on canvas and  pasted, using  the services  of a professional wallpaper contractor, to the desired area.

Because of the multi steps involve, furniture is usually completed in studio.  A small pick up and delivery fee may be charged.

Pricing

It is impossible to give an accurate estimate over the phone.  Estimates will vary, depending on the condition of the wall; prep work required; the complexity of each individual finish; the height and peculiarities of the walls; the expense of the materials required and the time frame for the work.
Simple faux finishes start around $3.00 a square foot.  Textures will vary;  certain plasters or the use of several layers will run much higher.
Murals run between $15.00 a square foot, for simple design, to $35.00 a square foot, depending on detail and difficulty of space.
The cost of scaffolding, if needed,  will be charged to the client.

Paint and Materials

Wonders On Walls uses primarily  water based, highly pigmented, top quality paints and products.   On rare occasion an oil based product may be used.
Multi tools are employed in the art of faux finishing.  Some are inexpensive, household items; others are  very costly and hard to replace.
A combination of pigment glazes, latex paints, craft paints and  artist acrylic paints may be used in mural applications.
